Enlarge a Letter
In this creative problem, students picked a letter out of a hat. Then, they were given the task to enlarge the letter through the grid system, draw it out, and paint it to perfection. Let's get started.
First, the picking of the letter-- what you get is what you get. Each letter has its own challenges and don't be fooled, if it looks easy, it's not.
After picking the letter, you are given a sheet that has a printed version of it, which is an 8"x10" size piece of paper.
You are also given a 16"x20" size of poster board. You will see that you will just need to double the ratio of the grid. 1"x1" grid in the small paper and then 2"x2" on the large poster board. Remember to draw light lines. Also when drawing on the poster board, use the dull side.

After finishing the gridding process, I will check off to make sure all the lines are correct and in place. Before painting, erase the inside of your letter.
Begin painting. The paint we are using is fluid and doesn't need additional water to help it flow. Start with the outline and go slow. Go on the inside of the outline so the inside of the letter will "absorb" any irregularities.
Complete the painting process and erase the rest of the lines.
Go slow. This assignment partly focuses on craftsmanship so if you mess up, you will need to restart. Don't think of it as failing, think of it as learning something new.
