In-class Line Practice
There are 3 sections that you must do in order to complete this practice. Please refer to the "Gesture Drawing" and "Contour/Cross-Contour" pages in order to understand the techniques used in this practice.
Using the paper provided by Ms. Purdy, please divide you paper into 6 squares (both sides). Do this with all three papers.
Section 1:
Using the images in this section, you will complete 12 gesture drawings. The images will increase in difficulty and you may only have 30 seconds to complete each gesture. Remember that they are not meant to be perfect, but are used to give a basic shape and starting point. You will start in the top left corner of your sheet. After the first 6 images, flip your sheet over and continue.

Section 2
On a different sheet of paper (still sectioned off in 6 squares both sides) you will practice contour drawing. The first 6 images will be objects filled in black. Practice contour drawing by drawing the outline of the images. Take only 1 minute for each object.
After you complete the six images flip over your paper. You will see the next set of images only they are not filled in with black. Complete this section of practice by doing a cross-contour drawing of each object. Remember you may only use 1 minute per object. If you are uncertain of how to cross-contour, please refer to the Contour/Cross-Contour Page.

Section 3
You're almost done!! Take your last sheet of paper (6 squares both sides) and refer to the original 12 images that we used for gesture drawing. You will now add all three techniques together. For each object start with a gesture drawing and then on top of that draw a contour line and then finish it off by adding cross-contour lines. You will only have 2 minutes to complete each object, so time yourself. After that, you're finished! Nice job!
