What You Missed...
TERM 1
August 20, 2018. --
Today in class we discussed the disclosure, procedures, took a "tour" of the classroom, and talked about behavior and dispositions. The disclosure needs to be signed and turned in on January 9th.
August 22, 2018 --
Today in class we went over "backwards" thinking in printmaking. Went over the tools used for carving a piece of linoleum. After that, we started carving our "stamp." Each student was given an eraser and a small piece of paper. They designed their initials in a creative way and then following the proper backward procedures started to carve their initials out of the eraser.
Aug 24, 2018 --
We finished out eraser and the stamped it! If you finished you were asked to find a favorite lyric or quote.
August 28, 2018 --
Today we talked about lettering. Since we will be doing a favorite letter or quote on a 9x12" block of linoleum we talked about designing letters that would fit the quote you chose. We looked at designing space in about an 8.5"x11" size to give a margin of error on the block. We looked at fonts and typefaces that were interesting.
August 30, 2018 --
We practiced with linoleum and carved into pieces of it to get the feel for it. Some students finished their quote while others are still working. NEXT TIME: All students need to be ready with their quote so they can be ready to transfer it to their piece of 9"x12" lino.
September 4, 2018
Students continued working on their quote print. Most students have transferred their quote.
September 6, 2018
Most students are carving their lino. If you are behind then please feel free to come in before or after school.
